White Flower Cake Shoppe: Where Sugar Meets Fine Art
Cleveland's White Flower Cake Shoppe in Cleveland (Beachwood area) produces cakes and other goodies that are nothing short of breathtaking. From decadent gourmet cupcakes to delightfully-droolworthy brownies to cakes that are true works of art, the White Flower Cake Shoppe is legendary when it comes to baked goods. White Flower's wedding and special occasion cakes are perhaps the most visually appealing-- intricate works of art made of high-quality flour, sugar and other pertinent ingredients. The fondant cakes, which are covered in a sweet, edible covering that can be dyed in hundreds of colors, feature amazing designs, vivid hues and shapes that will have you do a double-take. Famous for their purse cakes, White Flower makes edible creations that are easily mistaken for the real thing. Homemade buttercream frosting, chocolate ganache and other icings and fillings (the raspberry filling with vanilla buttercream icing is my personal favorite) are available as well.

Corbo's Italian Bakery: From cookies to cannoli to cassata cake
When you walk into Corbo's Italian Bakery in famous Little Italy, you can't help but feel a little bit nostalgic. Even if you've never been there before, the sights of decadent cassata cake and smells of Italian almond cookies tantalize the mind in the most joyous of ways-- and that's not even considering the effects this landmark bakery has on one's salivary glands. When you pass through the threshold, you just can't help but feel like a little kid again. I've been coming to Corbo's since I was a little girl. My grandfather would occasionally take me into Corbo's for a cannoli or an eclair. He'd watch as my eyes lit up with sheer delight as I eyed up the display cases, which were filled with cassata cake slices, dozens of varieties of Italian cookies, fruit tarts and cheesecakes. When he'd ask what I wanted, I'd let him know that I wanted it all-- I'd point to the colorful napoleans, the sweet coconut bars and of course those famous mini cream puffs, which always seemed to

East Coast Custard: For the love of summer
You can't consider yourself a true Clevelander unless you've enjoyed the creamy, rich, delicious flavor of East Coast Original Frozen Custard. And if you're just visiting the city in the summertime, don't pass up on a chance to take pleasure in this Cleveland original. I remember coming to East Coast Custard with my aunt when I was just a little girl. I recall standing in line at the Parma Heights location watching the twinkling carnival-style lights in amazement until a vanilla custard-filled waffle cone the size of my head caught my eye. As the young boy who was holding it looked down to take a lick of his frozen confection, our eyes met. He smiled and lapped up a big glob of custard. "It's good," he said, custard sticking to the corners of his lips. It was likely at that exact moment that I fell in love. With frozen custard, that is. Soon after, I dug into my own menu choice-- a chocolate custard sundae with hot fudge, chopped nuts and, of cours

Coventry Village: Eclectic Fun
Cleveland Heights' Coventry Village is possibly one of the most popular evening destinations in the city. A robust, artistic neighborhood with a variety of locally-owned shops, restaurants, concert venues, bars, parks and recreational activities, Coventry is Cleveland's original eclectic neighborhood. Located in the Euclid Heights Boulevard and Mayfield Road area, Coventry is a one-of-a-kind mix of art, food, nightlife and an overall lively feel that simply cannot be replicated elsewhere in the city. Visitors walk the streets and visit locally-famous cafes and bistros, bars, niche shops and parks that are as inviting as they are innovative. Coventry's numerous restaurants are arguably the biggest draw to this distinct east-side neighborhood, although it is the delightful amalgamation of businesses that make for the playful and inviting ambience of the area. However, the sheer density of the culinary delights on Coventry is impressive. More than 20 restaurants call Co

Little Italy: A timeless Cleveland neighborhood
Cleveland's Little Italy neighborhood, located near the University Health System on the near-East side, is one of the city's most visited areas due to its large variety of authentic Italian restaurants, bakeries, art galleries, boutiques and pizzerias. Located on Mayfield Road at the major intersection of Murray Hill Road, Little Italy is well known in the city of Cleveland because of the much-attended "Feast of the Assumption" celebration each August, locally known as "The Feast." The brick-cobblestone roads of Little Italy are perhaps one of the reason that the neighborhood is so quaint and charming; seemingly lost in the tides of time. The storefronts are timeless, and you won't see a chain restaurant or pizzeria here -- each of the businesses in the Little Italy district are locally-owned and operated. Among the most popular businesses in Little Italy are Mama Santa's (pizzeria and Italian comfort food); Trattoria on the Hill (fine Italian din
